Mitsubishi L200 Series 6
Mighty Mitsubishi’s Latest Pickup - the L200 Series 6
Looking to continue its winning streak as one of the most popular “lifestyle pickups” on the UK market, the L200 Series 6 goes well beyond its predecessors with impressive fuel economy and surprisingly precise steering for such a big beast!
Best pickup on the market
Like all Mitsubishi pickups, it’s an imposing sort of vehicle that comes across as pleasingly tough and powerful, both on and off road. There are some highly aesthetically pleasing angles on this new model though, and if you get it in Diamond White with the Barbarian X trim, it really looks very smart.
To keep it looking that smart there are some nifty features inside. You’ve got a blind-spot warning system that’s perfect for lane changing on the motorway. It works by using sensors on the bumpers to detect anything you might miss in your blind spot and then flashing a little lamp in your door mirror to let you know not to turn.
Also included is what Mitsubishi call an Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS). It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie but it’s really the tech that buzzes and flashes if sensors detect an obstacle of some kind while you’re trying to park. It’ll also control the engine output if your foot slips and hits the gas at the wrong moment when you’re manoeuvring. What with this and the 360 camera that gives you a view all around the car, there are really no more excuses for not parking perfectly every time!
Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 2268cc four-cylinder diesel, 16 v turbo that’ll get you from 0-60 in 12 seconds flat. It’s capable of a top speed of 108mph too for if you’re ever in a hurry. (We jest, of course; but it’s always nice to know how much faster than 70mph you could go, if you chose to, just like those watches that can go to 200m under the sea or those pens that could write upside down in space!)
Overall, if you love a pickup then you’ll love this latest offering from one of the best known and most respected manufacturers on the market. With a starting price of £21,515, if you’re yet to be converted to pickups then this might just be the model to do it as it combines some genuinely convenient tech with an efficient engine and some serious stage presence.
