Mitsubishi L200 Challenger special edition revealed
Mitsubishi L200 Challenger Special Edition
The Mitsubishi L200 is a special pick-up. It’s the model that filters down toughness to Mitsubishi’s more consumer-led models, like the Outlander, and it’s consistently ranked in the top three best-selling pick-ups in the UK.
What do we know?
Key to its success is the way it drives. It has the best turning circle in its class, which at 11.8m, isn’t far off the 11.4m of a BMW 3-Series.
Also key is Mitsubishi’s special edition models, which cater to everything from hardcore off-roaders to those who demand more technology. The latest such special edition model is the Mitsubishi L200 Challenger, which goes on sale autumn 2019. It’s based on the outgoing Series 5 (pre-facelift) as a last hurrah to the model that has served us well since 2015.

So, what makes it special?
It’s all about the exterior styling.
Mitsubishi’s piled on the black trim and added some wheel arch extensions, giving the L200 Challenger a wider stance than standard.
There are also model-exclusive 17” alloy wheels on all-terrain tyres, which fill the arch gap nicely to complete the side profile.
Elsewhere, Mitsubishi has colour-coded in black various exterior trim elements that would otherwise be body-coloured or chrome.
These include the front grille, front bumper accents, front fog light surrounds, side steps, door mirrors, door handles and rear bumper bar.
The only chrome left on the Challenger is the Mitsubishi and L200 badges. The result is a pick-up that looks stealthy and professional.

What about the equipment?
The Challenger is based on the Warrior trim level, so it comes with a few neat features which are noticeable on the outside. These include automatic HID Bi-Xenon headlamps, power-folding door mirrors, rear privacy glass, and a rear bumper step.
On the inside, the L200 Challenger has black leather upholstery, heated front seats with a power driver’s seat, smartphone link display audio and a reversing camera. It also comes as standard with keyless entry and starting.
