Now, we already know a lot about the new Honda Civic Type R model with its 2 litre turbo charged 305 BHP engine, but now it's time to find out more. We start with the age-old problem of transmitting 305 horses through a front wheel drive car.
For those of you who understand driving, you know that torque, coupled with too much horsepower, can create a lot of problems when they are transmitted to the front wheels only. Honda have solved this with limited slip differentials and endless testing, which included the Nürburgring. The new Honda Civic Type R was created at the ultimate European track, where each GT car has to prove its worth. On the last test the Civic Type R set the FWD lap record of 7:50! In order to come up with the answer is that a good or bad, follows a comparison of this time with some of the other record-breaking cars.
The Honda Civic Type R's time of 7:50 equalized the score with the ultimate (and much more expensive) cars, the BMW E46 M3 CSL and Porsche Carrera S. The cars that were slower stagger belief...
